How we curate RFID intelligence

RFID Wire is an editorial intelligence service maintained by Roxtron, a manufacturer of RFID and NFC tags, inlays, and custom credentials. Our goal is to surface signal from a noisy market so engineers, integrators, and buyers can make faster decisions.

About RFIDWire editorial

RFIDWire editorial is the publication’s organizational byline. Our work combines source curation, technical explanation and analysis. Automated and AI assisted processes help discover and prepare material. An editorial byline does not imply an interview, an independent field test or individual expert review unless the article explicitly describes one.

Publication dates describe our articles; source dates describe the material we cite. A later feed appearance does not necessarily mean a new announcement. We label supplier accounts and state when outcomes have not been independently verified.

Source priority

We prioritise primary standards, documented technical evidence, and research over trade press and vendor marketing. Every incoming article is scored against a four-tier framework:

  1. Tier 1 — Research publishers and repositories. Publisher and repository pages receive a neutral Research source label. arXiv items are labelled Preprint. RFIDWire does not infer peer review from a publisher, journal, or URL pattern; that status would require explicit article-level verification, which the current feed does not store.
  2. Tier 2 — Standards and industry bodies. Standards publishers such as GS1, ISO, IEC, and ETSI are labelled Standards body. RAIN Alliance, NFC Forum, AIM Global, and IEEE Council on RFID are labelled Industry body.
  3. Tier 3 — Vendor and manufacturer newsrooms. Impinj, NXP, Avery Dennison, Zebra, HID, Identiv, and other RFID/NFC principals.
  4. Tier 4 — Trade press. RFID Journal, NFCW, IoT World Today, Electronics Weekly, and adjacent supply-chain and retail outlets.

Update cadence

Ingestion runs hourly. Every article is deduplicated by canonical URL and title, capped so no single publisher dominates the feed, and interleaved by domain. Google News wrapper links are rejected; only canonical publisher URLs are stored.

Editorial summaries and curation

Two or three sentence editorial excerpts are prepared from substantive source text, never from a headline alone. When the available text is insufficient, we leave the article without an unsupported synthesis. The weekly Industry Briefing is produced by the same team using numeric citations to the underlying sources.

Product listings, shopping pages, and marketing pitches are filtered out at ingestion. Generic wireless, antenna, IoT, satellite, and 5G coverage is excluded unless it has a direct RFID or NFC connection. Research, preprints, standards, vendor accounts, and trade reporting are labelled distinctly.

Analysis, attribution, and disclosure

Original field guides and news analysis distinguish what a cited source establishes, RFIDWire editorial interpretation, practical evaluation questions, and limitations. We do not present manufacturer accounts as independently audited outcomes and do not claim interviews that did not occur.

RFIDWire is published by Roxtron Limited, an RFID and NFC manufacturer. That relationship is disclosed on every page. Commercial links are restrained and separated from evidence.

Spotted an error or a missing source? Reach us via the contact form linked in the footer. Include the article address, the disputed statement and a supporting source. Substantive corrections should be explained on the affected article with an update date; publication dates must not be refreshed merely to appear new.

Reader preferences and saved articles are stored on the reader’s browser. Calculation inputs are processed locally. Existing site analytics measure page use; the new tools do not send entered figures to RFIDWire.
