How we curate RFID intelligence

RFID Wire is an editorial intelligence service maintained by Roxtron, a manufacturer of RFID and NFC tags, inlays, and custom credentials. Our goal is to surface signal from a noisy market so engineers, integrators, and buyers can make faster decisions.

Source priority

We prioritise peer-reviewed research and primary sources over trade press and vendor marketing. Every incoming article is scored against a four-tier framework:

  1. Tier 1 — Peer-reviewed and academic. IEEE Xplore, arXiv, Nature, Scientific Reports, ScienceDirect, Springer, MDPI journals (Sensors, Electronics, Applied Sciences), PLOS ONE.
  2. Tier 2 — Standards bodies and alliances. GS1, RAIN Alliance, NFC Forum, AIM Global, IEEE Council on RFID.
  3. Tier 3 — Vendor and manufacturer newsrooms. Impinj, NXP, Avery Dennison, Zebra, HID, Identiv, and other RFID/NFC principals.
  4. Tier 4 — Trade press. RFID Journal, NFCW, IoT World Today, Electronics Weekly, and adjacent supply-chain and retail outlets.

Update cadence

Ingestion runs hourly. Every article is deduplicated by canonical URL and title, capped so no single publisher dominates the feed, and interleaved by domain. Google News wrapper links are rejected; only canonical publisher URLs are stored.

Editorial summaries and curation

Two- to three-sentence editorial excerpts are written from the source abstract or article by Roxtron's engineers, product specialists, and market analysts, and checked for technical accuracy and commercial relevance before publication. The weekly Industry Briefing is produced by the same team using numeric citations to the underlying sources.

Product listings, shopping pages, and marketing pitches are filtered out at ingestion. “Research” is reserved for Tier 1 publishers only.
